Having been born just seven miles across the Severn Estuary I often wished I had been born in Wales. Then perhaps I would sing better and preach better. As it is I can appreciate daffodils and leeks and I have the right name.
Small things seem to get to me at the moment. The dog has been ailing for some time and today and yesterday he was not that well. We took him to smell the daffodils in the local park - but a couple of young German Shepherds had a go at him. I do have a thing about folks who open the back of their car and just let the dogs loose on the park. But the sun shone (I didn’t take my umbrella) and I did get some good news - a cancellation of a commitment I had for Friday that makes that day hopefully a lot less stressful.
St David’s day - could be my day in a sort of way - but well, the sun’s gone down and the moon is up so we may have a frost - certainly the Welsh can expect one. Something to be said for the Severn Estuary after all!
Where we belong is not always a matter of birth - but it is a matter of feeling settled and having work to do in a community. Let’s hope tomorrow’s other commitment works out ok.
