Of course there are still a hundred and one jobs to do. Work for tomorrow’s service, and the endless domestic lists - not to mention Tim’s updates - but it is Saturday, and that means a trip to Bristol.
There are three good things about that. I get to spend a few hours with my son; We share a ‘two for one’ meal in the afternoon, and having a bus pass means I don’t have to find the fare!
These Saturday meetings have only happened over the last few months. We talk about work (computers) the world and our country - and invariably we talk about Jesus. That’s the way the conversation goes. Stephen often has very useful tips for my next sermon and we explore together the common ground that faith in Jesus provides. Of course we don’t always agree on everything - but these Saturday meetings have become something we both look forward to.
We need to share the truth about Jesus with as many folks as we can - but we should perhaps always begin with our family.

Forget global warming! Consider climate change instead. Last time I wrote it was a beautiful day - and now it’s raining. If you want changeable weather then the UK is certainly the place.
When walking the dog you have to consider the weather. He has a coat that looks like dreadlocks and feet that act like sponges. Take him out in the rain and you have to get the hairdryer out to dry him.
As I was saying… changeable, that’s it, never the same weather for more than a few hours - and your mood, if you are an umbrella sort of person like me - changes to match.
I want something - better still someone who is not subject to such ups and downs. I need an unchanging friend and helper. When the weather - or life - changes remember that Jesus never does.

This is the initial posting of an occasional blog for Bristol Road Baptist Church, Weston super Mare.
Today the news is dominated by a petition about road charging and the possibility of troops returning from Iraq. As the political arguments rage it is worth pausing to reflect on what really matters in today’s society.
How can I have influence in my country and my society? I might sign an e-petition or wave a placard in the street. What really makes a difference? Conversation does.
That conversation begins with a look at this morning’s beautiful clear blue sky - and a word of gratitude in a conversation that begins with God - and, I hope, continues with conversations with those I meet. In this way I may make a difference.
